5-spoke (~2004) Aero wheel restoration

So I had laid these wheels aside in the garage, but they wound up getting rashed up because of neglect over the near year dormancy. I'm pretty much starting fresh:





So after sanding it down, degreasing it and cleaning them up, I sprayed it with filler primer. Room temp that evening was about 69 deg F.:




And by morning it was 18F. Temp dropped so fast, the paint couldn't cure fast enough and separated. <<sigh>>


So, starting over and sanding them again. For the third time...

BTW, Burnside: Was in West Chester yesterday. Full day though, no time to hang, but I did see a NG 9-5 "in the wild" on East Chestnut.

Very Nice! I need to do the same thing to my set. Found a set on CL for $200, but they look a bit worse than yours.

Ah - yeah there are a few in the wild around here. Well - I am here for one more week - off on the 15th - working the 17th and following my box back to Doylestown after work.

Someday we will cross paths outside Carlisle.

What did you use for paint? I've used several designated "wheel paints" before, and I've yet to find one that I've actually liked. I recently tried engine enamel for painting one friends wheels black, and it seems to be holding up great, although the cure time is 5 days.
