Yup. Everything on the car is original except for the ignition, which ad to be replaced in the prior owner's ownership. My father and I believe it was a REALLY EARLY '89 built in '88, I haven't had the time to look at the door sticker, last I looked the production date was "12/88"

And thanks! I absolutely love the car! I drove it to work and people are coming into the service lane going "that's a nice Saab!"

Enjoy your car! If you notice anything going wrong, I'm here to help. The ECU is a common failure point on the '89s, but I have a spare one if you ever end up needing it. Also, if you ever get the urge, changing to a manual gearbox is not the hardest thing in the world!
Ask me a question about your c900! I promise I either can answer it or know someone who can

were the ECU's in the n/a 89's just as bad as the turbo ones? I thought it was just a c900 Turbo issue with the ECM's. Wouldn't surprise me otherwise. I also MAY have some n/a ECU's kicking around that may work - I have to check part numbers.

I was thinking of doing the tranny swap, but then it would defeat the purpose of its "time capsule" title. Its actually not that bad with the Borg Warner in it!

Again, for the same $3000 it would take to do the swap I can buy my mechanics c900 Turbo vert 5 speed with 68k miles ;D

Hey, did your original 98 9-5 have the cloth wool interior and was it wrecked?

Nope, actually I had to give it up at 206k, the original autobox started to go bad, and I didn't have the cash to fix it. My mechanic, Harvey Richardson, now has it and it still runs with the faulty autobox at 220k!

Not sure if he is on this forum, but on saablink his usernsme is "Harvey's Autohaus". That's also the name of his shop. What a great mechanic! He worked under my dad at Saab of Baltimore back in the day for about 10 years. Best Saab tech I've ever dealt with.

Now I know this is not a technical thread here, but when i had the 900 out last night (around 10 pm or so) It's a bit hard to see the speedo cluster. the lights ARE on, but they are very dim, and the dash lighting setting is at max brightness.

Do I have to get new bulbs for it?

All 900 dash lights get dim eventually. Combination of dirt inside the green filter and the bulb getting dimmer. Also the rheostat can get dirty and make it dimmer still. Most people put superbright LEDs in which solves the problem. See other post on this forum.
