    Insane parts prices

I hope you guys don't end up needing to buy a DIC any time soon. prices have gone thru the roof. while driving to customer site my car threw P1312 on highway. managed to drive it to Ottawa and paid $700/- including taxes for DIC. checked prices in toronto and other parts places I knew as well before buying and this was cheapest price by $70 or so

At this rate, I am going to have to seriously consider if I want to keep the saab or go for something else. I don't think I will be able to afford to pay these rates for too long....

It's almost $500 from eEuroparts as well. A little more than a year ago, I paid $276 for mine so that is huge increase.

Ouch! They are $440 @ my Dealership still.

FYI - I have a few good used ones left for sale - $75 plus shipping and I offer a 1 year warranty on the unit - not shipping. (while supplies last)

Can DICs be refurbished or repaired? What part of the DIC actually fails?

I would love to know that as well. It's not just price increase either. parts are becoming harder to find. I am still on lookout for Control module and front leveling sensor for xenons. managed to find rear sensor used.

From the few I take apart to investigate - I find that the one electrical coil or amplifier seems to get overheated and crack the coil housings from heat. It does NOT look like something that can repaired (or at least worth the time and cost of doing so) as the internals are all permanently sealed together with a plastic type material.

$353 from saabusaparts: Saab Direct Ignition Cassette (Black), Saab USA Parts.com

I usually ordered from eEuroparts as they (used to) have the best prices with free shipping but it sure helps to shop around.

At least I have a spare one that I got for the price of postage... it had one broken leg and a missing spring, and I fixed it good. Hopefully I won't need it any time soon.

    First post here.

I have been hunting down a new/used DIC for a week or two now. Saabusaparts is the cheapest new OEM I found online ($380 including shipping), but they don't have any in stock atm. No eta on when they will be in. Had to go with thesaabsite.com. When I called them, they said they have it in stock. It was $420 including shipping.

enjoyed reading this during my search as to why the DIC is so expensive.
