You're on the wrong continent. These explorers came here long before that other guy from Italy who got all the fame.

Then it's probably not Skara Brae, a neolithic coastal site in Orkney, Scotland. Even if it isn't, I learned of Skara Brae just because of this Saabworld thread!

If the Continent is wrong it cannot be in Europe (Amerigo Vespucci got to South of Vinland first before CC)
Cannot be Vikings (who sailed to Vinland) - and sailed from Europe.
Must be somewhere on the Pacific - Russia would be my answer based on Nordwulf's reply.(341 above)

Skara Brae - a long way for you to travel to but well worth it. There are many ancient sites in Orkney's, Shetland's and Outer Hebrides to make it a worthwhile adventure.

Why not? You're on to something..

This guy explored the Atlantic ocean long before Vespucci and CC. About 500 years.

L'Anse aux Meadows (Newfoundland) in Canada.

I did not know that this place existed but thanks to Saabworld, I now know.

Yes, that is correct. There is an official Leif Erikson Day, started in 2016. And it was one day before Columbus Day in 2016, not sure if that was intentional or not.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press...ikson-day-2016

To honor Leif Erikson and celebrate our Nordic-American heritage, the Congress, by joint resolution (Public Law 88-566) approved on September 2, 1964, has authorized the President of the United States to proclaim October 9 of each year as "Leif Erikson Day."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim October 9, 2016, as Leif Erikson Day. I call upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs to honor our rich Nordic-American heritage.

Nice one. Should have been looking at arrivals and not departures.
An interesting period in history which I will read up on and not rely on Asterix - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asterix!

Airport could be Nome with a little help from Flightradar and Google maps.

Could be and is Nome, Alaska, USA.

It is the end of a yearly Iditarod dog sled race which commemorates the real dog sled rescue mission to bring medicine to the town during a deadly epidemic. Alaska Airlines flies to the town using a Boeing 737 with cargo in the front (and a large cargo door) and a passenger section in the back.

    Your turn, Gepe.
