    SID replacement and cruise control

    Hi Guys,
It's been a while, think just over 18mths.
Finally left Renault and just bought today a 1998 9-5 2.3lpt Saloon with full Saab history and 1 Owner inc Company from new.

Already done the first mod. Marker lights in the front indicators, next is colour code the grill like my old 9-5 estate. Got a couple of questions.... It has the velour interior with Heated front seats. It's the SE spec but it has a SID 1 and NO Cruise Control. On the stalk at least. But I do have the AS3 Audio sysytem with Harmon Kardon system.

What I need to know can I replace the SID1 with a SID2 by just replacing the unit? Can I change the Indicator stalk with the Cruise switch instead of what I've got?

Well happy getting back in the saddle.
Drove back from North Mymms near London back to Scunthorpe doing 37.4mpg. It does have a couple of very minor points, but for £500. A excellent buy. Also planning to go to the South of France in June in it.

    Pics to follow

There is more to the cruise control than just the controls on the stalk. I don't have the WIS available on my laptop so I can't look up to see what parts are needed. But it seems there definitely will be some Tech2 programming involved.

I am not sure about the SID but it controls several functions and it seems it also won't be plug-and-play.

Glad to have you back, looking forward to the pictures.

I know with the Laguna it was as simple as the Cruise/Limiter button, Airbag ring and the new wheel with controls. All the wiring was already there. I thought the same for the Sat Nav system....... How wrong I was. That's what finally killed the Laguna. NOT doing THAT AGAIN. Think it helps with the forums as well. Renault Forum is £(* for advice. On ANY matter!!!

Thankfully the SAAB network is SOO much better.

Any other way of getting photo's across??? Apparently my pics are too big. Been a while since I've posted pics from Flickr and can't find the way to get the pics across.

Finally had chance today to do a couple of the repair bits needed. I've bought a cruise switched stalk. Inserted into the console and checked for the "cruise" light to light up. It does... took car on a test drive and IT WORKS...

The big test will be tonight to see if there is any faults when I go to Wetherby. Hopefully everything is fine. At least I can take the French motorways easier now.
