    Gas / Petrol prices

Only a few years ago, price for premium gas was more than $4 a gallon in the US. Compared to the rest of the world, that was still pretty cheap but expensive for America when you're used to lower prices.

The recent plunge in prices was great for my recent road trip. One of the lowest I have seen was around $1.98 per gallon (EUR 0.44 per liter) for regular gas. I filled up in Duluth, Minnesota a few days ago and paid $2.28 for premium. When you're used to $50-60 fillups, it's kind of strange to see a total of around $35 (EUR 30) for a full tank. Not that I am complaining though..

I imagine prices in Europe also have come down? What are you paying in your part of the world?

This was at a BP station on January 3rd.

Gas prices in the Seattle area are higher, but not as high as California or Hawaii. Here, Chevron Supreme (92 octane) is in the mid $2 range and Costco regular is in the low $2. In Vancouver, BC, gas is still over $1 per liter or about $4/gallon. At the peak, Vancouver gas was about $1.48/liter for Chevron regular.

I saw somewhere that gas in Germany is still expensive compared to the U.S. but cheaper than before.

I was in Andorra around the 20th of June this year. Diesel which is cheaper in Europe than in the UK was 99c a litre! Exchange rate at the time was €1.35 - £1. I paid €1.18 two hours before in France. Petrol was €1.04 a litre. Premium was 2-3c more expensive.

On the way home in Calais I paid €1.18. 3 days later in Cambridge I paid £1.20.
More things change. The more they stay the same.
