Shark fin antenna replacement

Mine needs to be replaced but I don't fell like paying $75 for the dummy. It basically is a piece of plastic and doesn't serve any purpose. Are there any alternatives? Perhaps just plugging up the hole with something?

Hi Frank:
I just dropped the headliner and cut the wire and took the thing off and threw it away. I found a flat plug and gooped it up with silicone and stuck it in the hole.
