Any Florida Saabs?
Does anyone know of any Saab events in Florida? Obviously, not including the convertible, Florida wastes Saabs' talents. Straight roads (although US 27 north of Lake Okeechobee is better; the road into Everglades National Park to Flamingo is nice, but slow), hot weather, no snow. Boring. Regardless, there are quite a few 93's, especially convertibles. Used the high-beam flashers when seeing other Saabs but to no avail. Does anyone remember the "flash"? Used to see it all the time in the late 70's/early 80's up in New England.

The Garage map shows there are 5 Saab owners in Florida, including yourself. I have seen quite a few more members from Florida but they not be active on the forums. My Saab 9-5 is originally from Miami. Does that count??
No snow and hot weather is what I am dreaming of when we we have 6 months winters here in the upper Midwest. But I imagine it can get old when it feels like a sauna in summer time and driving a convertible is probably uncomfortable.

At least I can use the seat warmer a couple of times in the winter.

It's funny to visit Florida in 'winter' as a northener. When it is 50 degrees, locals wear winter coats, scarves and hats and they look like the world is going to end. I see people here in Michigan wearing shorts when it is 40 degrees. I guess it all depends what you're used to.

On that note, last time I spent Christmas in Miami it was 89 degrees. We opened the presents on Christmas day then went jet skying in the Keys!

SAABs are certainly not as common here in Florida as they are in the northeast, and few of the owners would consider themselves enthusiasts, but there are a few of us around. Check out the Northeast Florida SAAB club at neflsaab.com. We're on Facebook too. It sounds like we're a little out of your area, but we have members as far south as Melbourne.
