What to salvage from junk NG900s?
A local junkyard has two NG900s in their yard, a turbo and a non turbo. What's worth salvaging, either to have around in case it breaks or to sell?
I will get the rear view mirror (mine is wonky), turn signal stalk (mine is loose), maybe the MBC and turbo.
What else?
The red DIC is broken, I need to check the shifter linkage, if it has the 9-3's I am taking it. SID? I already got the leather shift knob and boot. The seats aren't bad, just dirty. Stereo? Anybody need switches? Headlights are gone.
Also, how do I open the trunk of an NG900 with no battery power or keys? Is there a trunk pull thing inside somewhere? I might take the CD Changer from the back if it's there (mine's kaput).

The DIC is the best spare part to have around. The rest of the car doesn't really have a known part that can go out so suddenly. Maybe an idler pully, but you are typically better off going new for that.
To open the trunk is a bit tricky but nothing impossible. Just fold down the back seat and climb into the trunk. Pull off the carpet stuff that is on the inside of the hatch and you can manually actuate the little latch.Free SaabWorld Stickers

I already have a spare DIC, and the one left in the junk yard has the plastic parts broken. I bet it could be glued together and made to work, but why. Maybe I'll just save the red electronic part, as that is the one that usually breaks.

If it's broken, it's not worth it.

If the BPC (boost pressure control solenoid is intact, grab it, they're not cheap. Do I spy a headlight leveling system in that 900 SE??

Headlight leveling system is pretty standard in Europe and Japan, somehow in the US it is luxury car stuff. The Mazda Demio I rented in Japan had it. I see the switch on the dash too, I wouldn't know what to get from the headlight end, as most of it seems to be gone, especially the headlights themselves.

If the rear decor panel still has a good badge and contacts at the tag lamps don't look shot, get that. It is a few 8mm I think nuts after you pull off the rear carpet to get you into the trunk.

But you mean the colored or reflective panel? My car has the colored one, and I also have a reflective one I bought on ebay. I think most people go for the colored.

Today I returned to that junk yard and the Tubro NG900 was gone. The non turbo was there, I was able to salvage a few trim pieces I needed, plus a rear view mirror. The non turbo had a brand-new-looking set of Bougicord spark plugs wires, which I got now. I will try to put them on the C900, as Bougicord are the bees knees, I don't know if the NG900 wires will fit on the C900, but I'll try. Last time I tried to remove the spark plug wires on the C900 I almost ripped one out as it was real tight and there was not much room for my meaty paws in there... Hopefully the NG900's spark plug boots will fit fine on the C900.
I also got a SAAB original warning triangle, and a neat Alfa Romeo warning triangle, the Alfa's folds to less than a half inch thick and is real light. I sat in a few Alfas and their seats are awesome even for the cheaper cars. I also found a Peugeot 204 GT (not GTi) with good sports seats. When I return from Afghanistan I plan on making a video gaming racing seat, and will most likely go back to that junk yard and look for a nice sports seat off a junk car. Now: '00 Saab 9-5 Aero Combi - '89 Peugeot 205 CTI - '91 Peugeot 309 GTI

So the NG900 Bougicord spark plug wires do not fit the C900, they are about two inches too short. They will be posted for sale soon.
