Turn off the "Tape Skip" function on my tape player

    Hello, all!

Wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to turn off the "Tape Skip" function on my tape player. After just a few seconds of silence, it will start fast-forwarding the tape until it finds sound again. I won't turn my iPhone up all the way when I have it connected to the tape adapter or it will start distorting. Anything less than full blast is too low for it to register the sound and stop fast forwarding the tape.

It seems I can customize almost everything else in this car, so I thought maybe someone knew a way to disable that function.

I wanted to do the same thing today. So I looked it up in the owners manual...

With a tape (adapter) in and head unit on, press and hold the Seek button in the center. This should turn the auto-skip off. Press and hold again and it turns it back on again.

Ah, yes. I should have done that, but rarely am I in the car and able to go through it. When I'm not in it, I either forget about it or I'm at work, so I can't. Oh, well. I knew someone would know

I'll do that. I know my wife will appreciate it when she's listening to Pandora an it doesn't start to skip between songs

    Thanks, Frank! You're a lifesaver

I'm glad I wasn't the only one having this issue. Thanks Frank for chiming in with that tid-bit of info.

Yup, Frank is, quite possibly, the coolest moderator ever. He manages to mod an automotive forum and NOT be a dick. Good on ya

By holding the Band button and turning on the unit, you can also set the speed dependent volume adjustment, loudness on/off and max start up volume.

When using the casette adapter, the head of mine doesn't completely line up with the tape player head. Pushing down on the adapter when it is playing significantly increases the volume and quality of the sound, especially to the right speaker. I have to find a way to make a small adjustment to adapter head so it sounds good all the time.

Are Saab owners fiddly people by nature, or do we become that way simply because our cars allow us to be?
