I'm having issues with my A/C so I'll add to this thread rather than posting my own.

Recently, I noticed that my A/C was not blowing cold air. As with my previous cars, my first solution was to try the canned stuff. Problem was solved for about a day. So I guess that I have a leak somewhere.

I took the car to my local dealer to have a vacuum and to diagnose the problem but they told me that the refrigerant is contaminated and that there's nothing that they can do to remove it. I've never heard of this before. Thoughts?

Did you tell them you added a can of stuff? It says what refregerent is in our system under the hood. (I can't remember..) But I know it is the only stuff I can find in Ont. Canada. I didn't do too much shopping around though.
I would take it to another shop that offers a deal on air conditioning recharges.
Maybe not tell them about the can of stuff....

I didn't tell them anything. I don't understand why it would matter. I'm going elsewhere.

Hey your in London Ont? Me too!
I take my stuff to Brian at Quality Auto on Whanrcliffe and Riverside. He is Honest! Really. He has done air conditioning refills for me in the past. He does tag them as "dye added... or what ever"...
I usually get him to do all the stuff I don't want to do. Exhaust for sure etc. If I can do it I usually do.
His # 519-434 6188. Tell him the mailman sent you.

Went in to see Bryan yesterday while I was passing by. He'll take a look at the AC next week.

    Thanks again for the referral!

Just an update on my air conditioning with respect to the 03 AERO. I added 1 1/2 cans of stuff today and the air is working. I also added 1/2 a can to the 04 Arc and it seems to have helped too. It is working as well but not up to it's potential.
I'm going to see what a week brings for both and if it's the same I'll add more stuff. If it's not holding I will probably take it in for the dye treatment and find the leak.

I have this said by both my mech and our home ac folks. They are only allowed to charge a system one time and in order to do it a second time they have to document and do a repair. Essentially what my auto indie said was that next year (my old Volvo), I would have to "take it down the street" to another mech for a system charge. Sounds like they face some stiff fines from our State DEP and they usually "bounce" their laws off the EPA.
