    900 Turbo, 9-3 SE, 9-5 Aero

I'm bummed, my 90 900 Turbo is no more...

I bought the car in 1995 with 68k. It had 338k, ran better than the day I got it. Original turbo, tranny lasted to 298k, Intrax springs, 93 CE wheels.

It's been my daughters first car, she was 2 when I got it. She loved it too, preferred it over the 2000 9-3.

She was driving home from school and it caught on fire recently. The results you can see below. It looks like the little fuel hose between the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator cracked and allowed fuel to run onto the engine. Check your fuel lines and hoses, don't let this happen to you.

    That leaves me with a 2000 9-3SE and an 03 9-5 Aero.

I will be looking for another Classic 900 Turbo. It's the one I enjoy driving the most.

RIP old friend, you took good care of me and my daughter.

Ugh, that sucks. My condolences! Sucks to have the car for so long and keep it running so well and have it go up in flames like that, but I am sure you got your money many times over on this car!

Are you parting out the car?

Always sad to see a Saab move on to another place.. Is there a Saab heaven?

How fast did it happen? Did it catch fire while she was actually driving it? It sounds like nobody besides the Saab was hurt.

Geez, that's awful. Sorry to hear. Thank goodness no one was injured.

On the bright side aren't there a fair number of c900s on the road still in CO? Hope you can track down another jewel without great difficulty. Best of luck.

Sorry hate to see another one go.
save what you can if you plan on buying another one.
I parted out my 91 900s. stripped it to the bone.
    and already need things.
Those little tophot shaped head light connecters...mine were so dried out that removing them was hard most cracked.
if you try use lots of penetrating oil and let them sit before prying them off. and TAKE YOUR TIME.
that was probablly my biggest mistake. and the oil thing. or keep the whole light ass. intact

Your steering rack save your lines and fittings in case you have a power steering leak from said rack ,which happens if your live in snow and ice country.
    good luck
    .

Oh yeah, my daughter was fine. It did happen while she was driving, someone behind her saw flames come from underneath and got her attention.

I am parting it out, sort of. My indy, who has become a friend, had a heart attack (late 30's) and has not worked in almost a year. He does odd car repairs at his house. I am giving him the engine and tranny, he is going to rebuild the engine and reseal the tranny and sell for much needed funds. I am keeping the CE wheels, will have them refinished. I had a Husco armrest that I customized to fold out of the way. I'm keeping the Intrax springs, tail lights, odds and ends.

Well, let's keep it in perspective - it's just a thing that can be replaced. The same can't be said if something had happened to the Daughter.

It does suck that you have to look for another classic, but that never bothered me. If you're in SW CO, you might want to try the Phoenix area - plenty of rust free SAABs down here.
