passenger side footwell leak

What is so different on the driver's side other than the color of the hose and maybe less space to get to the end of the hose? I did it DIY on the passenger's side with an additional hose and a clip, both bought at Home Depot. Took the existing hose and cut it, extended it with the much more flexible new plastic hose by using the hose clip and pushed it back through the hole in the firewall using a dry cleaning hanger. It took me a while and some patience but worked perfectly. If it'll ever happen on the driver side, I'd do the same. Cost is less than 5 bucks.

I ended up doing the same thing on both sides -- slide a slightly larger hose in from the engine side of the firewall and clamped it onto the old hose which I cut off -- works fine for both sides. The driver's side could be done in an hour if you started by taking out the wiper motor and the A-pilar cover (with speaker) from the inside, slide a new hose in and clamp it to the cut-off old hose.
