Hi, I have a Saab 95 aero estate 2001. Yesterday, I noticed the battery was flat as the door and radio had been left on for a while. After fully charging the battery, it wont start. All the dash lights come on etc but when I turn the key... NOTHING!!! not a sound! Can anyone help please?

you need a new battery.

Check your voltage across your battery terminals with a voltmeter or multimeter. I'm guessing your battery is bad, producing enough to power some lights and stuff, but not enough to get the starter.

Hi, thanx for the replies. I tried swapping over the batteries from another car which I know is fully charged. However, this didn't work either. Do I have to reset the key or something as the battery was disconnected for a time? Could it be the immobiliser?

I am sure you check the battery cables and made sure no connections are corroded. Is this an automatic or manual transmission? It could be a faulty transmission safety switch or Ignition Switch Module. That's not normally caused by a flat battery but sometimes these things happen at the same time.
Hi. It is manual not automatic. I am now wondering whether it was the battery after all. When we charged the battery up it read fully charged within the hour. This is unusually quick unless the battery was not flat in the first case. We tried the battery on another car and it started first time. The red light is flashing twice every 3 seconds which tells me it could be immobiliser. The SID display has pixelated so I can't read the display! The key that came with the car has no buttons on it. 2 remote fobs came with it but I have never used them. The key still opens and locks the doors but when placed in ignition and turned to start, nothing happens but all the dash lights come on. Is it possible that the key is faulty? If so any advice? Thanx in advance.
