2001 Saab 9-5 SE wagon liftgate lock trouble

I have a 2001 9-5 SE Wagon and have been having issues with the liftgate lock. Even though it's closed the info display on the instrument panel says it's open. Additionally every time I accelerate from a stop the lock sounds like it locks. When I come to a stop same sound. Bad lock? Other possibilities? Thanks!

I have the same problem after I fixed the jammed lock. Any idea anyone?

No one has replied to this thread, but I have the exact described problem with my wagon hatch lock. I removed the cover and inspected all mechanisms, lubed them and the key lock. I manually closed the latch to verify it is engaging both stages of operation. I verified the latch striker is correctly placed and the trunk does completely latch when closed. I cannot see a physical issue but when put back together it does the same thing.
Anyone have a tip?

I located a wagon in the salvage yard and removed the latch and lock solenoid. Once swapped into the car my problems were solved. I am not sure which of the 2 components was at fault but know it was one of them.
