Saabworld site is ALWAYS so slow to load…

Anyone else getting this?

If I don't check Saabworld for a few hours or even a day, then come back and refresh the main forum page it takes up to 30 seconds to load everything. Very slow... too slow I think! I have tested in Safari, FF and Chrome... all on my MacBook Pro (8GIG RAM and only 12 months old). And every browser returns the same load times... 30 to 35 seconds. Compared to both SC and TSL, Saabworld take forever to load before i can do anything.

As an example both TSL and SC takes 4 seconds to load everything after a refresh... having to wait up to 30 seconds just to refresh SW is unbearable and basically unusable.

I have deleted cookies, restarted, deleted history and all caches and still get the same 30 seconds load time.

Anyone else?

Here in Germany SW loads as fast as TSL. At my work SC won't even load.

Also, has it always been like this or just after the most recent update? Frank can probably chime in on more technical issues.

Its probably been like this for a few months now. When the site was first made live back in 2010 it was very speedy! Seems subsequent updates has really slowed load times down greatly, at least for me.

It isn't my internet connection as it is the same slow load times at home and at work, both running broadband 2+ and both over 15MB connections.

Must be because Australia is so far away

Thanks for bringing this up. Those load times sound unusual and much longer than I have been experiencing. SaabWorld definitely isn't as fast as SC or TSL for me either but that's probably because we have more features, more image content on the main forum page and SW is hosted with Shared Hosting.

SW is hosted in Strasbourg, France so load times should be pretty quick in Europe. But there shouldn't be that much difference with other places in the world.

WebPagetest - Website Performance and Optimization Test provides a site performance test from different locations around the world and shows a lot of data. I'll need to look into it some more and see if some things can be cleaned up.

Does it happen with all parts of the site or are certain areas slower than others (Articles, Forum home page, Forum threads, Marketplace, Gallery, Downloads and so on)?

Something else you can try is to use the Mobile style (select at the bottom of each page). That should be much faster because it will mostly show text content only.

I ran a test from Sydney with IE8 and Frankfurt with Chrome. Results are pretty much below average.. Shared hosting is probably the main issue here.
