New kid on the block
Got myself a nice my 2000 9-3S 5d Hatchback with a manual gearbox and the 2.2 TiD diesel engine as daily runner..
live in the netherlands and cover yearly between 45K - 50K kilometers.
Got her now 4 weeks and I don't understand why I didn't switch to Saab earlier.
What a great car!
Hope to share with you all the good times and advice during the very few not so good times.

Welcome to SAAB World! It's nice to see someone else discover SAAB too. If you drive a lot this car is great, as the seats are incredibly comfortable. Just make sure you keep up with maintenance and that SAAB will serve you well.

Welkom! 45-50k kilometers is a lot of driving. How are the Saab diesels to drive? I haven't read much about them.

Well Frank,
The engine comes straight from the racks from GM (Opel / Vauxhall)
2.2 4 cylinder
85 KW / 115 HP
260 Nm
Real life fuel economy is good, considering the weight of the 9-3.
average of 5.6 l / 100 km measured over 3.400 km.
Note that I mostly drive outside the rush hours.
Gear ratio's are choosen well. as overtaking on the highway can easily be done in 5th gear.
Acceleration in 4th gear is also very good.
All in all it is, for me, the ideal highway cruiser with a nice comfortable ride.

the bad times;
last month the fuel pump ceased to function. Totally worn out, so no printed circuitbaud issue.
now pump would set me back a stiffling 1.800 euro + installation costs & VAT.
So that was the end of our 9-3
the good times
Lat week we found an accomplished replacement
Saab 3.0 turbo V6 Griffin - sedan - automatic - my 2000
which runs on LPG
Never in my wildest dreams I thought I could buy and drive such a phantastic highway cruiser.
But now I do

Sorry to hear about the end of your 9-3 but congrats on the new 9-5. I owned an Opel Manta on LPG a long time ago and I imagine LPG technology changed a bit since then. How does the V6 run on LPG?
