    Bosch fog lights

Here is proof that sometimes you can still score deals on eBay.

Today I scored a set of New Old Stock (NOS) Bosch fog lights. These are the original Bosch lights, made in Germany with Osram bulbs, not the current overpriced set that is made elsewhere and has slightly lower quality. I won the auction for $30! A new set goes for $120 new.

This old set comes without a wiring harness, or relay, but that is the least of my worries as I have a bunch of Bosch relays, and wire is easy to come by. I also need a switch, I won't use the Bosch one. I'll be looking for a genuine SAAB fog light switch. Anyone have one available?

For mounting the light I have found this blueprint for a C900 light bracket. Anyone has other ideas for mounting? I will be putting them under the bumper on the traditional C900 spot by the license plate. Would anyone care to measure the distance between the mounting brackets on a car that came from the factory with fog lights?

    1999 9-3SE (2013-2015), 2005 9-3 (2005-2013), 1990 900 (1990-2003)
Those were the days when one could easily add fog lights. I had the dealer install them for my first classic 900 but I did it myself for my 1990. Nowadays, fog lights are specific to the car. Perhaps, there will be a meeting of Saab drivers and someone will be able to measure them for you. In the Seattle area, Scanwest Autosport is having their yearly customer BBQ on September 8th, but that would be a long wait for you.

I have my spot and fog lights mounted directly below the bumper. You can screw up into the flat portion of the bumper underneath. The metal here is at least 1/4" thick aluminium and takes a screw firmly and well. If you have a compact mounting bracket, it's the idea place.

If you can wait for a few days (don't have Elsa right now - she's getting a new top) , I can measure the distance for stock Marchal lights (which I only believe to be stock because it has the stock fog lamp switch in the dash). I have to get down there adjust them and tighten them, and I will measure the stock distance at that time.

Sweet score on the auction, by the way.

Okay - I was wrong - stock HELLA lights.

On the 1990 900, the stock positions line up directly with the European plate receded areas on the left and right - 21" apart. Now, keep in mind that the Bosch lights may not be the exact same size as the Hella lights, so you might have to make minor adjustments.

You mean the mounting holes are 21" apart or are the lights 21" apart?

The mounting points - which would be the dead center of the lights on the horizontal axis - are 21" apart. They fall right below the widest part of the bumper recesses.

Anybody knows if these cars are pre-wired for the fog lights? I'm about to do install them soon.

I'm fairly sure they are. Bentley gives the wiring diagrams.
