Saying goodbye to a good friend
Today I sold my first SAAB, the 1995 900 SE Turbo I bought in Alaska.
It had to happen because with a baby on the way we needed a bigger car. A few weeks ago I got the 9-5 Aero Wagon for that duty, and I have been looking for a buyer for the 900.
This week I showed the car to another Army guy, he is from New Hampshire and grew up with SAABs, he says his dad had a 9000 CSE when he was little. He was looking for a replacement car for his wife; she has a VW Golf that while mechanically sound isn't the best looking car right now, and has a leaking sunroof. Besides the Golf he owns a Lotus Seven replica with a Ford Kent engine, he is planning on bringing that car to the US and putting a Hayabusa engine in it.
They drove the SAAB, and a day later called me with an offer. I sold it for $300 below my asking price, which was in between the NADA and KBB list prices for the car. The car had the current CD changer not working (I think the changer cable is bad, but the new owner said he might put a new unit on it).
This car has been a great travel companion for me, I drove it from Alaska to Alabama and now here in Germany. I bought it at 32,000 miles in 7 July 2010 and sold it with 75,000 miles a little over two years later, today. The car has been extremely reliable (take that SAAB naysayers!), very comfortable, and great on gas.
It will be sorely missed in my garage.

It's interesting how a car can become more than just a transportation device. Especially a Saab that took you to many different places on several long road trips. The good thing is it will continue its life with another enthusiast who appreciates Saabs.
It can be difficult to sell a car like that but at least you'll have a very nice replacement with your new 9-5. This 900 will live on in your memory and the awesome road trip reports with us all. Another reason to share these trip reports. Safe travels red 900!

Well, I still have the C900 as a second SAAB. We decided to sell the NG900 because it is worth more than the C900, to cover the cost of buying the 9-5. All our savings are going to buy a house in the future so we didn't want to spend too much buying a car, and having three cars also didn't make sense.
