Help! Pop followed by power loss and turbo in red!

2003 SAAB 9-5 Aero manual 4 cyl turbo. Driving home last night doing about 70 on the interstate. Accelerated a bit to pass a car when felt a pop and began to lose power. Turbo was in red and an engine light came on briefly. Now will start, turbo fluctuates at idle, idles rough and then dies. Some bad smelling smoke coming from tail pipe. Don't know if it could be related but just had A/C condenser replaced about a week ago. Car has around 70k miles. Any thoughts??

I went and looked under hood in the daylight and duh! The MAF was disconnected! I guess the guy who fixed the condenser a couple weeks ago didn't get it on there tight. So, all is well and back on the road!! YEY!!

Glad to hear you found the problem and it was an easy fix.

I once changed the turbo on a 2001 9-5, went for a test drive, lost power and heard a loud pop. I had visions of a blown engine or other catastrophic failure. Closer inspection revealed I didn't secure the intake house and it came off. Sometimes a big problem has an easy fix.
