1998 900 convertible top not retarcting.
As many of you may have read in the Off Topic thread, my grandpa just finished up swapping in a new motor on my friends SE. The next step in the restoration of his car is getting the top working.
First of all, when you try to take the top down, it makes a clicking sound like something is not tight enough. Sounds like it's the tonneau motor (or coming from the rear pass. side fender) The top doesn't move a bit. Won't even budge. (and yes, I undid the latches and made sure the trunk was closed)
Secondly, there's this gap:
The top doesn't seem to be latched at all in the back. I can lift it up quiet a ways, but I didn't pull it all the way out, because I was afraid I'd mess up something.
All the research I have done points to the 5th bow/toneau cover motor. I'm still at a bit of a loss on it though...any ideas?I don't drive fast...I fly slow

Roof is made obliquely, so it is a serious problem with locks .They are maybe only one arm is crossed in. Therefore it doesn't be possible to put it in the body. You should check that at both sides. Maybe it should help you.
