'06 2.0T SC - radio RDS de-activation, existence of an EQ ?
Hi guys, I'm a 9-3 newb but no stranger to SAABs. Previous car was a 9000CSE which I drove for 10 years. This is my '06 2.0T Combi bought two weeks ago.
I played with all the system and audio customization settings the night I brought the car home. I was sure I came upon the RDS setting and decided to turn it on. Now I want to turn RDS off, but couldn't find the menu anywhere. Unless I dreamt the whole process Is there a way to turn off RDS ?
Also, I'm dismayed with my 10-speaker setup there isn't an EQ anywhere other than the treble and bass knobs unless the EQ is buried deep in some secret sub-menu in the SID ?
TIA."Nulla tenaci invia est via"

I was pretty happy with the audio system in my 2006 9-3 SC, thanks to the subwoofer in the back. You should have that as well. However.. tone control is terrible and there is no equalizer. I mostly used aux-in with my iPod and used those equalizer settings to make it sound nice. The Latin setting nicely boosts bass and treble and lower mid-tones. At least the later GM headunit in 2007 and up had mid-tone control. I always like to turn that way down for a deeper sound.

Was your SC 2.0T or 2.8T ? IIRC you didn't have it too long and I forget the details of it.
Yes I have the sub too. This is actually the best in-car audio system I've had since the 9000's stock set-up which was dang good for its day (CD changer/tuner/cassette/EQ/AMP/8-speakers).
Using an FM transmitter to play MP3s (via SD card) which also has its own EQ presets. Have not tried plug-in MP3 player via the aux input inside center console, as the MP3 player (Sandisk Sansa Fuze) lives in the minivan. Overall sound is alright. I still even use CDs from time to time."Nulla tenaci invia est via"

I had the 2.8T. Lots of power but also quite thirsty at times. SaabWorld - Saab Garage
