The guy who has done this on FB is Simik Ghookasian. I believe he lives in California.

Anyway ... in that group is the post I mention above. I will ask him to post it here, but until then, that's where it is at.

He investigated the Third Brake light LED issue, as well as the trunk light bar ... great work!

18 months after replacing the trunk light to a new one it now stopped working again.
So I'm desperately searching for advice how to fix a broken one, I don't want to spend another 500$ on a used one that most likely will break in near future again (new ones are not to be found anymore, not in Sweden at least).
Was there ever a good manual how to repair them?

I had an idea to replace the original LED strip with a "China LED strip" (waterproof this time), but I'm worried that the LED matching won't be that easy. And I haven't realized how to open the part without braking the plastic lens.

I have the same problem, with no solution, but I am amazed you can't find a fix/solution/new part living where you do!

I had always assumed that most of my problems sourcing parts and finding the knowledge required to do things to my car would be solved if I lived in Sweden, let alone Trolflhättan!
