Dash loud intermittent knocking noise

My next project is to find the loud intermittent knocking noise coming from dash when heat or a/c is on. It's very annoying and time to cure it. Any ideas? This is on my 2003 9-5 Aero...

I also have an annoying noise shen the ACC runs. I wouldn't call it a knock, though. For me, it's more like a whine. Gets worse when I accelerate. It's not all that loud, but sometimes it drives me mental. I asked a question about it a while back, but I guess no one else has experienced anything like it.

I've seen lots of posts about your issue. Yours sounds like the recirc motor. But mine is a loud tapping or knocking, 7 or 8 times, then stops for awhile. Does it on start-up and when run a/c check as well as other random times.

SAABs are built like Legos and in many ways (but not always) the 9-5 is just a larger version of the 9-3. Could this problem be similar to this one on the 9-3? http://saabworld.net/f8/automatic-cl...problem-26991/
