    Automatic Climate Control user programming

    For model year 1998-2005:

The ACC control module can be programmed by the user. Manual selections are stored in the control module so that they are selected when the car is started. Functions not programmed by the user will be set automatically.

User programming is accessed by pressing OFF and rear window heating simultaneously.

The control module processor is active for 10 minutes after turning off the ignition. If the ignition is turned on within these 10 minutes, the control module will retain any manual selections made during the latest trip. After 10 minutes the control module will start with user-programmed selections.

    Note
Experience shows that half the ACC control modules returned during the warranty period have not been defective but user-programmed. Therefore, it is important that this function is explained to the customer.

    Adjustment
The ACC unit can be adjusted with the diagnostics tool to always start with any manual selections made during the latest trip.

The ACC control module can also be programmed by the user so that certain automatic control functions can be changed. These selections are stored and used by the control module until the program is cancelled. Programming and cancelling the program are both selected by pressing ECON, air recirculation or rear window heating for longer than 1.2 seconds. In all three cases, the selection will be confirmed by the selected function symbol flashing 4 times and a message being displayed on SID for 5 seconds. The various extended functions are explained below:

    ECON

The function is automatically selected when the outside temperature is below 10°C at the same time as the solar intensity is lower than 351 W/m 2 and returns when the temperature exceeds 13°C or if the solar intensity is higher than 351 W/m 2 .

    Note
The ACC control module does not accept increased temperatures unless the vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h.

    Adjustment
The ACC unit can be adjusted with the diagnostics tool so that ECON is selected at other temperatures.

    Air recirculation

This function is selected automatically when the vehicle speed is below 10 km/h and disengages when the vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h.

Observe that fresh air is automatically selected if the temperature is below +7 °C. Returns to recirculation when the temperature exceeds +10°C.

    Adjustment
The ACC unit can be adjusted with the diagnostics tool to automatically select air recirculation at other speeds.

Electrically heated rear window and door mirrors

The control module requests that the electrically heated rear window is engaged within 5 seconds after the engine has been started if the outside temperature is below 5°C and at the same time the cabin temperature is below 10°C. The engagement time depends on the outside temperature.

At +5°C the time is 5 minutes and at lower temperatures the time is increased to max 10 minutes when the outside temperature is lower than -10°C.

    Note
Experience shows that half the ACC control modules returned during the warranty period have not been defective but user-programmed. Therefore, it is important that this function is explained to the customer.

The ACC control module can be user programmed so that certain automatic control functions are changed. The selections are saved so that the control module selects them until they have been deprogrammed. Both programming and deprogramming are performed by pressing the button for electrically heated rear window or electrically heated front seat for more than 2 seconds. I both cases the selection is acknowledged by a sound from SID and a text that is shown on the main instrument unit display for 5 seconds.

    ACC: AUTO: DEFR REAR WINDOW
    ACC: MANUELL DEFR REAR WINDOW
    ACC: AUTO SEAT HEATING
    ACC: MANUAL SEAT HEATING

The different extended functions are explained below:

    Heated front seat

In automatic function the ACC will decide whether it needs to heat the seat, for how long and at what temperature. The button for electrically heated front seat symbolises different temperature levels. In automatic function heat level 1 will be selected.

Adjusting heated seat offset temperature with the diagnostic tool.

Electrically heated rear window with rear-view mirrors

In automatic function the ACC will decide when the rear window and door mirrors need to be heated. The time depends on the outside temperature and the temperature in the cabin. The LED in the button comes on and confirms that the electrically heated rear window is on.
