    How to remove painted pin-striping?

My 9-5 has pin-striping on both sides and I am not a big fan. It is painted and I have no idea if it even is possible to remove. Any thoughts on how to do or try this without damage to the paint/clear-coat?

Well if is paint and not tape you have two problems. If you are able to somehow remove it your stripe will still be there as the paint surrounding the stripe will have faded somewhat leaving you with a stripe anyway. Even is tape you risk this. If is enamel paint I dont think you can remove it at all. I looked at your photos of the new car and I cant even see the striping. Maybe the people that see you in your new Aero will be so enamored of your good looks they wont even see the stripe

It's definitely paint and it mostly shows in close-up pictures. I was thinking maybe trying with Goof-off. That stuff works wonders on almost anything.. Well, maybe not with pin-stripe paint.

I searched around a bit and some suggest using oven-cleaner or paint thinner. Others suggest wet sanding but I don't think I'll attempt that..

Perhaps even better to ask assistance from a professional body shop? I need to take it in anyways to have them check out the big scratch on the hood and lower front bumper.

This method seems promising and doesn't look too difficult.

Success! The pinstripe is gone, thanks to the help of a fellow Saaber and denatured alcohol. More details here: http://saabworld.net/f15/painted-pin...uctions-28414/
