Car window cleaning tips?

I've decided that I want my windows to be as clear and clean as possible. How should I do it? There are very faint water stains where the wipers don't wipe. It's easier to see if I wet the window and the water runs off. There are some tiny scratches and overall dirt seen mostly before sunset when the sun is low and bright. The windows are not overtly muddy, just a little dirty.

This weekend, I tried cleaning the inside front windshield with a damp cloth then unprinted newsprint that I got as packing material. It did a reasonably good job but now the outsides are dirty.

For general cleaning, I was going to try dish washing liquid and maybe spot clean any more difficult stains with rubbing alcohol. How about the water spot residue? Vinegar? Rubbing alcohol? Detergent? Windex or ammonia? Bleach?

I usually wash car and then clean glass surfaces ( windshield, windows, mirrors ) with windex from both inside and outside. then spray the glass surfaces with rain repellant like this.. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

I know Canadian tire store is only for us eskimos, but you get the idea

The best way I found to clean windows is with a spary of water and couple spoons of alcohol mixed in it. You can also clay bar the glass to get all of the contamintaes off.

Spray on some Ammonia, wipe with Newspaper...
