Valvoline/Winplus windshield wipers
The local K-Mart is closing in about a month and the parking lot was crowded so I went in. Everything is 10-30% off now. Car products are 30% off. They only had a few windshield wipers left. The Valvoline Silver series caught my eye. At $4.68, I bought the last one. In a future post, I'll write a review but it probably won't appear for several months because my current wipers are still working.
After I got home, I did some research on it. Valvoline markets their brand of windshield wipers which are made by Winplus, a company based out of Ontario, California. The wipers are made in the People's Republic of China. K-Mart's original price was $6.99 but it's sold on Amazon.com for $4.99 with free shipping if one buys more than $25.
The Valvoline silver series is a metal wiper. Their gold series has some graphite coating on the rubber blade. Valvoline also markets a frameless design.
In retrospect, the regular K-Mart price is not the lowest price but with the 30% discount, it's a very inexpensive wiper.
In the future, I plan to write a detailed review of wipers that I've used, including some numerical data that I've collected. Some wipers tested include those made or marketed by Valeo, Bosch, Michelin, Anco, BMW, Dodge, Valvoline, and NAPA/Storm Vision. As a sneak peak, stay away from the NAPA/Storm Vision.

I found some brand new Saab 9-5 6-spoke split spoke wheels on eBay. They were from a seller in the UK which usually isn't good for getting a decent deal when shipping to the US is considered. As they were for export outside Europe, they could sell them without VAT so the set of 4 wheels came out to £250 + £120 shipping = £370. That converts to US$ 600 so still a very good deal. They were shipped with UPS on Wednesday and they were waiting at my front door on Friday!
I haven't seen these very often and only in a real picture in one of my favorite wallpapers. 17 x 7 and made by BBS in Germany. My 9-5 will have some fancy new shoes when the winter wheels come off in a few months.

Frank, great score! By chance did you but them from THG? I purchased a set of them about 6 months ago priced similarly for Dad's car but we have yet to put them on.

I got them from Struebel. They have another set for sale if anyone else is interested. You have to contact them first for the price without VAT.

Frank, that's an awesome deal on the shipping, and nice new wheels! I have been looking for Thule towers for the C900, and found them for cheap on Ebay UK, got the towers for 25 pounds. So after winning the auction the seller tells me that shipping to Germany is 45 pounds!!! I asked how much would be shipping to the US (using my APO address), and it would have been 60 pounds, just for a box weighing three pounds! Highway robbery on shipping charges. SO I paid the 45 pounds for shipping. In the end, with the value of the goods and shipping I apid about the same I would pay if I just went through Amazon.

Nothing better than the rubber smell of new tires. I decided to try the new Pirelli P7 Cinturato. A review will be started soon when I'll put them on my new wheels and on my car in about a month.
