    2009 9-7X 5.3i
I'm going to bring this thread back to life ... I am again considering a 9-7X. In fact, I'm going to look at a high mileage (260,000 kms) one available right now.

I personally like the concept of the 9-7 - I would like to own one one day as a tow vehicle. The 5.3 V8 would be the best of the two normal optioned motors as the 4.2L I6 gets LESS MPG and is nowhere the tow capable engine. Plus it makes all kinds of reving noise and goes nowhere

The IDEAL 9-7x to find is the AERO spec version with the 6.0L SS motor. Those are sweet.

I've put that on hold for a bit ... but it is still my leading choice right now for a future vehicle. If it isn't the 9-7X, I'll be back into a 9-5 SportCombi for sure.

Interestingly enough, it would appear that Canadian prices for them are actually lower than the US. Haven't seen that before!

There was (and perhaps still is) a 2009 9-7X Aero with the LS2 engine for sale locally. I think it had about 50K miles and was in nice shape. They were asking $17,500 so seemed reasonable. A 390hp SUV would be nice addition to any Saab collection.

A Saab 9-7x would be the perfect tow vehicle for any Saab race car...

OK, so no more hold. I am now the PROUD owner of a 2006 9-7X 5.3i!

Wow ... just got into a really heated discussion over on the Facebook page for Saab 900 (1979-1993). Couldn't believe the bigotry of the "real" Saab guys ...

There are Saab enthusiasts in their own communities, Saab communities within other communities, communities within countries and worldwide communities that use the same language but with different opinions. A single Saab community where everybody shares the same opinion is a myth. The old-timers Saabs (93, 95, 96, Sonnet etc), classic Saabs (900 and 9000), GM Saabs (9-3 II ,9-5 I), GM/Spyker Saabs (9-5 II and 9-4X), future NEVSAABS all seem to be different with their own fans. The 9-7X and 9-2X are perhaps 10% real Saab so I understand where it is coming from. But a Saab is a Saab, even though some Saabs may be more Saaby or SaabSaabs.
