Engine/Transmission mount damaged
For the last two months my car has been clunking slightly when shifting into drive, and sometimes I hear a metallic groan up front, also heard when going over speed bumps. Well, during the ABS module installation I found this:
So it seems my engine mount on the transmission side is torn, explains those noises. Is that called a transmission mount or engine mount? How easy is the removal/installation?
Frank, can you dig out the WIS procedure? My WIS doesn't cover the 9-5.
Looks like it is just prop the transmission, remove those bolts front and rear, remover the nut on the center, pop it out, install new one. Seems too simple. Where is the catch?

Edit: I might go with the Taliaferro part, got good reviews, and it's cheaper too: http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...f1d83eb608608cNow: '00 Saab 9-5 Aero Combi - '89 Peugeot 205 CTI - '91 Peugeot 309 GTI

The GS one you linked to is for the LOWER Torque rod mounts - its an insert replacement and I have one and love it. It does stiffen things up nicely! As for the mount you show which is torn - get the Hutchinson's mount and fill and voids with either GM Engine Sealer/Gasket Maker or Urethane for windshield installs

Yeah, rpiereck... it's like a 15 min job. takes longer to get the battery a tray out than it does to replace the mount.

I used a hydraulic jack under the gearbox for the support and for being able to lift the gearbox in the assembly of the center nut. It greatly facilitates the entire job, which in itself is very simple.

My lower transmission mount is very worn out and I can see the engine moving significantly when I shift from reverse-neutral-drive. It is probably safe to assume the upper mount is ready for replacement as well? Any other engine mounts that should be checked or replaced at the same time?

Frank: You seem to be having a number of high mileage issues with your new car. What is up with that.

I am at 68K miles now. Perhaps it could be related to age as well? It is a 9 years old after all.
