Spark plugs

Where I am, there's difficulty sourcing spark plugs due to SAABs being very rare here. I was using the PFR6H-10s for my 2006 9-5, when it was time to change my indie mentioned the 9-3ss plugs could be used. So he went ahead and installed the PFR6D-10G. But looking at the forums it's a big no-no to use any other platinum plugs other than the recommended. So I'm desperately looking for plugs to change but I can't seem to find a shop that carries these plugs.

Even the BCPR7ES-11s are hard to find. I am able to find the BCPR6ES-11s though.

Question: Will it be okay to use the BCPR6ES-11s? My 2006 9-5 is a 2.0t, factory tuned model with 185hp.

The difference between the BCPR6 and 7 is the heat rating number. The 7 for the BioPower engine and 6 for the regular B205E. i really don't know what the difference would be between these 2 plugs. Give it a try and see if it runs fine?

Hi Frank,

I did read the FAQ and it says that BCPR6ES-11 are for standard B205E and B205E tuning kit up to M01 (year 2001) and PFR6H-10 for B205E with tuning kit after year 2001.

I suppose mine is tuned, and is after 2001 so the PFR6H-10 is the correct plug.

I wonder what is the difference between the platinum and the copper plugs other than the platinums last longer? Would be good if I can use the standard BCPR6ES-11 since it's readily available here. Cheaper too.

Do you have a nissan dealer nearby? Some of the early 90s Z cars used the BCPR6 and 6 es plugs.

fortunately Nissans are aplenty here. Managed to get BCPR6ES and have gapped them to 1mm. No way to find the PFR6H-10s nor the BCPR7ES.

SAAB dealer closed down sometime in 2009. The closest one is in Singapore now

Just got the BCRP6ES plugs in and these are the 9-3SS plugs that were in the car. Doesn't seem too bad, the car wasn't misfiring or anything but there were times it felt like it was hesitating when accelerating.

Will see if there's any improvement with the plugs. i should hope so since it's the OEM plug.

Changed the plugs today. Took out a set of BCPR 6ES-11. No idea how long they were in there. All look similar. Replaced with the PFR6H-10. Will report if any difference perceived in driveability.

Took out plugs tonight to check gaps and general appearance. Opened the gap on two of them just a tiny little bit. Appearance is similar to the ones I took out last year.

And appearance is "normal" according to NGK and other plug websites.

plugged in a Tech2 last week and found that it was registering misfires

Cylinder 1 : 200+
Cylinder 2 : 20+
Cylinder 3 : 20+
Cylinder 4 : 600+

There were some knocks too, but quite small number. I pump RON 95.

The plugs are BCPR6ES-11 with 6k kms...wonder whats gives? DIC is 1 year old.

Bought some BCPR7ES-11 to see if the misfires go away. Maybe bad plugs or something? Could this be the reason why they recommend the platinums PFR6H-10s as the coppers really don't last as long?
