Any garage ideas?
I have a blog here about my quest to build a garage for my Saab.
Any ideas to suggest? I am happy to report that the building permit has finally been approved. Construction may start as early as mid-September. There's still time to change and add ideas. The dimensions are set.
The floor finish is going to be concrete with epoxy on top. The walls will be wainscoting, not unfinished studs. There will be a light above where the engine compartment would be as well as two windows with frosted glass. There will be a 220V outlet by one car space to recharge a future electric car. It will be very large, 4 car spaces. The reason is that it takes so much effort to get approved that I thought the more, the better. There will also be space above the garage, one huge room.
Pictures to come as it is built.

I used to have running water and a laundry tub-style sink in my garage in a previous home. I never knew I needed that and I used it all the time for things like filling a bucket for washing the car, washing hands, cleaning paint brushes and general cleanup of other stuff.
Another must-have in any garage where you get a lot of snow is a drain and slanted floor so any meltwater drains without making a mess.
If I were to build a garage, it should have a seating area with some couches, fridge and possibly a TV. Definitely must have have a good audio system and computer with internet.

A good, big wash basin. You've always got grubby hands after working on a car, and you can clean tools/stuff in it too. Not to mention it comes in handy when you need a spot to defrost that huge turkey for Thanksgiving. So many uses.

Is the garage for storage only, or will there be repairs done there too?
