Tech 2 in Houston
Hello all,
I am writing to see if anyone in the Houston area owns a saab tech 2 that I could pay to use for a few minutes.
Alternatively, if anyone has found a shop in Houston that won't completely empty my wallet for tech 2 work I would love to know which one.
Thanks
(My primary reason for needing the tech 2 is Aux activation and DRL deactivation)

So here is an update on a good shop in Houston that charges decent prices for Tech 2 work and also has pretty good prices for everything else. The guy who owns the shop is cool and actually knowledgeable. I paid a little over 60$ for close to an hour of Tech 2 work: Aux, DRL, auto door locks, etc.
Viking Automotive (Houston) is the name.
Peace

Thanks for the follow-up. I haven't seen any other members from Houston on the site lately (if ever). $60 is very reasonable and glad to hear you were able to get it done.

Good independent repair shops should be recognized for good work.

Years ago, I bought my first Saab, a classic 900, from a Houston dealer, Star Motor Cars. They sold Mercedes, Volvo, Saab, Lotus, and Aston Martin. The latter three were serviced in a small annex on the property where there was no waiting room. Instead, you could stand next to your car and watch. That was before they were afraid of liability. Most customers opted to wait in the waiting room by the showroom. I wrote a blog entry about my salesman, Joe Knapp, more than a year ago. Star Motors is still around but Joe passed away.
I almost bought that first Saab from Bland Cadillac Saab. They are a downtown dealer that closed in 1997 after selling valuable downtown property to developers and were unable to find another large location near downtown. I changed my mind about buying a Saab from them because they were a little more expensive and because they put a dealer nameplate on the car. Ugly!Last edited by Dave T; 05 March 2013 at 05:06.
