Rim troubles yay!

It was brought up to me by one of the lovely moderaters of this site (which will remain unnamed) that the new rims I have purchased are 5 x 114 with a 35mm offset. The stock rims are 5x110 with a 49mm offset. That a whole 27mm difference! I am freaking out now that I got the wrong rims! Can someone help me out? What can I do to fix this?!


Edit: Should I buy wheel spacers? If so would 1" be enough?

I think you can fit 5x108 or 5x112 using wobble bolts but 5x114 is too much out of spec. Together with the 35mm offset, your best bet is to try to sell these and get some wheels with he correct specifications for the 9-5.

The reason I ask is that these are used rims already and selling them is going to be hard. If I brought it to my mechanic, could he find a way to get them on?

Interesting idea to use something like that. You'll have to make sure the wheel bolts fit and the wheel nuts have the right taper for your wheels. But.. they are 25.4 mm (1") so will bring the wheel offset to 60 mm. And I am not sure what else will be screwed up with the wheel geometry.

IMHO - wheel spacers and adapters are a VERY BAD idea. Use the right parts or don't bother. Just my $0.02

Before you do anything, check the wheels and see if the offset is stamped on it and what the bolt pattern is. THEN report to us what the numbers and if you're good to go. Ideal is 5 x 110 ET 49

ET 50 is perfect, one from 49 is nothing. 48 is better than 50 but splitting hairs. 5 x 100 will not work. I wonder what car uses that?

Edit: Several GM cars, some Chryslers and Subaru WRX but I didn't check the offset, just saw a post elsewhere about the bolt pattern.

What I got from looking at the stuff stamped inside the rim is that its 5x100 with 50mm offset. What makes the 49mm offset ideal?

Every car has recommended offset. 50 mm is just like 49, the specified offset. No difference..ok, 1 mm. Even a picky person like me will tolerate up to 3 mm off. My 9-3 specifies 41 mm. I use 40 part of the year.
