Transmission question

I'm looking at picking up a project 1988 9000 cse that has a auto trans going bad how difficult is it to source and swap out the auto trans to a manual trans?

No idea haven't gone and looked at out yet? But for the sake of argument yes.

You said 1988 CSE - no such car - do you mean 1998 CSE or a 1988 9000 Turbo? Automatics can be found for these cars as they did have failure issues (often just the valve body) on the earlier cars.
