    Unhappy Navigation map updates

As anyone made any update on nav maps and speed cams on SAAB 95 TTID 2011?

I was looking around for you on the Dutch Saab forum but they haven't found any updates either.

It's a long shot but perhaps you can find out if there are any other GM models that use the same navigation system. It could be the same as the 9-4X and Cadillac SRX but European map updates for those are probably difficult to find as well.

Unfortunately, the 9-4X map disc is not much better than the 9-5 map disc.

Are you sure the update is not done via disc? It may be stored on the HDD, but reasonably certain a CD is involved somehow.

Some say the update is done through the USB port (by the dealer) and others think it is with a DVD. The navigation system is made by Denso with maps by Navteq. It appears to be the same as the one in the Opel Ampera / Chevrolet Volt and some Jaguar/Land Rover models. However, they also say map updates for each brand are specific to that brand. Navteq can't supply updates directly because of contracts with the manufacturer.

Perhaps contacting Saab Parts in Sweden or the US will provide more information.

This is the answer I had from SAAB:

    Hello Paulo,

The delay is caused by the bankruptcy of Saab Automobile AB in
December 2011. We, at Saab Automobile Parts AB, is working with the
supplier and hope to have updates available as soon as possible.

    Best regards

Frank, do you know if the Opel/Volt/etc get DVD-based updates?
