    service theft system message

Is there a way for the at home mechanic to diagnose the theft system? I from time to time get the message to service theft system at start up but its not every time.

Needs a new siren or batteries in the siren. Easiest to replace - but the cost is tons more over learning to solder in new batteries... OR just unplug it and eventually have a Saab tech/shop de-program the car to never display that msg.

I have that SID message, service theft alarm, in my T5/185 hp/1999 9-3. It's been there constantly since 2006 according to secret info that I got from a mechanic who serviced the car in 2006. Perhaps, this is the cure?

best to check with a tech2. Found my tilt sensor went kapoot too. So i disabled that and also replaced the siren batteries. The previous thread is here

So far no service theft alarm messages. and have set my alarm to Door Only.

Would This be true even if the siren still functions(makes sounds)?
