    Saab Emblem Ideas?

Hey guys, I am sure you all suffer the same issue I am having right now.

Nobody likes this... I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on what to do with these emblems besides replace them. I was thinking that I would stain the metal black somehow or do something of that nature. Have any ideas? If you do have an idea please post instructions on how you would go about doing so. Thanks guys!

These decals seem to be popular. You basically leave the existing one on the car and put these on top. Easier and cheaper than a new one but I don't know how they will actually look and how long they last.

I'm going for more of the arts and crafts DIY aspect of this. But thanks for the link, I might just do that if I don't find anything good.

How about going Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar or Rolls Royce style and have a hood ornament?

Too bad there aren't many modern cars that look good with hood ornaments.

    A griffin would be nice.

Frank, on my computer table here, I keep a damaged but prized possession. It's the hood ornament from a 30's Pontiac, it's a double cast perhaps nickel outer bust of the indian chief Pontiac with his face an insert of copper. It's a shame that a few feathers from his bonnet were damaged but I still like it. Really, some of those were true art.

Hey, for a "Teenage Mechanic", I would be real tempted to put on the one of the "Rally Pig", it's a lampoon of the Saab Griffin with the pig's crown cocked at a rakish and irreverent angle. I'd have put it on but past 60, I am sort of acting my age. I think most folks liked the fellow from Portugal, focus lima or focuslima. Be sure to sand off the (after paint masking), the residual lettering since some said it shows through the plastic. Also that focus lima's were of a heavier "domed" plastic that added depth. Or I think the dealer sells them for $14 or so dollars. It seems to happen to all Saabs. Pity the badges are no longer of baked enamel.

Could you post a picture of what you are describing?

I think Tunnan is referring to this one. Does the rally pig have any meaning or famous in some way?

The rally pig was originally used on Subaru rally cars. I guess there was a Japanese Manga (cartoon) sponsor in one of the big rally magazines that always featured Subarus. Eventually a pig from the cartoon ended up on a Subaru. With the Saabaru 9-2x, it found its way over to Saab.

It's a shame Spyker never got to change the logo back to the monochromatic airplane. Our sticker issues would be over and the historical ties with the lame GM era would have been severed too.
