Shims for rear suspension
Forgot to ask about shims.
I am going to replace my rear bushings in the next few weeks. (Have bushings, just no time.) I purchased shims to adjust the rear wheels as well.
They sit kind of like this.. / \ (exaggeration)
I know that we will have the car loaded for a trip out to PEI this Aug and don't wan to go through 2 sets of tires doing it.
Have you added shims? How does one measure without a alignment machine? I know I will need an allignment after I replace the bushings. But if I install the shims won't the alignment put everything back to ware I don't want it? I want this..\ / Right?
Should I install the shims after the alignment? I'd rather do it when I have it apart for the bushings.Last edited by nordwulf; 25 May 2013 at 02:48. Reason: moved post to new thread

Mine has exactly the same issue and my previous 2005 9-5 had it as well. It is often caused by saggy springs and/or worn-out shock absorbers. I am not familiar with using shims so I am curious to learn more about that as well. I would like mine to be | | as it looks overloaded like yours / \ all the time.

Here is a link to ware I saw the camber shims. FixMySaab: Rear Suspension: Intro
I have see mention of them on some of the other SAAB sites.
How is your tire wear if your tires are like /\ like mine? I have the 225/45/17 on my car. I did read something somewhere about the wider tire being "part" of the cause....
Thanks for making the new thread.

I put on new tires a few months ago so I can't comment on tire wear because of this. But I am sure it can't be good.
I always thought camber was non-adjustable on the 9-5 but the WIS does show the procedure as well: http://saabworld.net/f29/shims-rear-...b-9-5-a-28465/
