    2002 Saab 9-5 Aero.. auto :(

2002 Saab 9-5 Aero automatic much slower than manual trans?

As the title asks, is the automatic transmission slower than a manual transmission from a roll? I know from 0-60, the difference is like 1 second, but how about from a roll? Is the auto significantly slower, if slower at all? Orrrrr...is it faster I've read some places that the auto does better in delivering the torque due to it's shorter gear ratios.

Also, I have a 2002 aero, were the revised 2004 aero's any faster? I know they have 250hp as well.

The manual has an overboost feature which increases the torque for 20 seconds. The automatic probably shifts faster than you can shift yourself with the manual transmission. I used to have a manual Aero but prefer the automatic. But performance is not my main priority.

The 2002 through 2005 Aeros have 250hp and the 2006 - 2009 all have 260hp in the US. The 2002 model year was a significant upgrade to the 9-5. http://saabworld.net/f99/2002-saab-9...australia-351/

The power hike has been made possible by revising Saab’s own 32-bit Trionic engine-management system to increase the available boost up to 1.5 bar in the engine’s higher rev range. Maximum torque remains unchanged at 350 Nm, with a 20-second overboost facility increasing torque to 370 Nm (manual only), to allow decisive and controlled overtaking of other vehicles.
