New front pads and rotors= Softer brake feel? 01 9 5

Did front brake pads and rotors. Did the brakes till they smoke break in. I notice the pedal is softer or at least travels a bit further down. Is this an issue? Fluid was high and removed some with a baster.
    Thanks

Aftermarket brakes? What brand rotors and pads? Some of the cheap stuff does this. I only run "oem or better" quality parts.

I was told by an old Saab parts counter guy that you can use AC-Delco Professional Series and there supposadly better than OEM. And better prices if you can match the product #'s. (A real pain but it can be done.)
(Side note: Some parts like the heater switch valve are the same part on other GM vehicles. Cadillac in the valve case. He says it's the same for breaks with other models too.)

Well thanks for that, but the pads and rotors are on the car already.

Mike I would check everything over and then do a fresh bleed of the brakes with some new DOT4 fluid.

The Akebono's are a little softer than some pads I have used but they are great in stop and go traffic and virtually no brake dust. Also they have some longevity to them so far.

Either way good luck and let us know how it goes.
