That 9-4x Aero would be a great car.
There are a bunch of 9-4Xs on cars.com now. A few months ago there were none. A few of them are Aeros, including a particularly sweet white one around Texas, I think, though that one is overpriced in today's climate. We have a loaded XWD premium and would have gotten the Aero had I been able to get one with all the options and in Moreland Bronze. I could not, and am very happy with the vehicle. Would have preferred the turbo engine, but the 3.0 is only slightly less fast stock, but it isn't tuneable or sound as good as the turbo under hard acceleration.

There were only 457 of them sold, some have been totaled already, and the windshield/body panels situation concerns me a bit. But I do think Saab Parts NA has our backs and will work to get us the parts ... at least the windshields. Right now there aren't any in the system though.

If I was in the market for a CUV right now, the 9-4X Aero would be at the top of my list as long as I was comfortable knowing the panels/windshield risks.

Where did that 457 number come from? Is that USA only or worldwide?

The crack in the windshield was right in the driver's line of sight and so bad the car was essentially undriveable. Saab said mid-October, maybe. However, there was one standard, non-rain-sensing windshield in the world. It arrived in a week and was installed for $100. Total cost was $800.

I'm considering buying a rain-sensing windshield and having it in the rafters for when the next replacement becomes necessary.

Yes ... or a 9-4X Premium with the rain sensing, like mine.

State Farm Insurance replaced my 94x windshield in spring 2012 (I think). I will need to look at my records. Got a crack from highway debris. The company that did the replacement found a OEM windshield and it was shipped in from Sweden. Not sure from where. Had to pay the deductible but would of cost $980...if not covered.

Has anyone been able to pick up a new windshield lately? I've seen and heard that people are able to get them but from all major Saab part sources they are saying that there are none left, and that a a new vendor is being signed and parts may be available in a month or two.

Tried to get 22855181 with rain sensor - no luck, should we wait?
