New Battery?

I have the original battery (since Dec 10) in my 2010 Aero, but cranking at startup takes a little longer now. Additionally, I get "2 remotes programmed" and "Intelligent mode" messages with each of my last 4 start-ups, almost like the cranking brings the vehicle back from the dead.

Anyone else need a new battery before 3 years?

Any recommendations?

Very common. Even reports of two years. I changed my original 9-3SS battery after 5 years.

Thanks Dave. I guess I was spoiled from the very first battery on my very first new car 21 years ago ... that one lasted 7 years. I guess, looking back, we had been selling/trading in subsequent cars at the 3-4 year mark so never had a battery issue ... thank you.

I took mine in to get the navigation checked and was told I should get a new battery soon. The service advisor said these batteries don't last long because of all the gadgets that are constantly running. He said that the original batteries were going earlier than normal because most of the cars sat for a while and the batteries were drained little by little by all the tech stuff. Makes sense I guess. He quoted me $250ish for them to install a new one. I shall try AutoZone as I don't want to put too much $$$ into the car as I'm considering trading it in since I no longer have a 2nd car and don't feel comfortable using this as my daily driver.

Got into the car to leave the office for the day last week and the battery was dead. Called my dad to come and help me jump it; went to Batteries Plus and they tested the battery and said it was time for a new one. $175; not bad considering the (former) Saab dealer said $250. I went car shopping on Saturday and was only offered $15,000. Gonna try a few other places this week and see what else I can get.

Yep - needs a battery! I just had a 2011 9-5 last week with that same issue. Battery tested weak - new one fixed it!

It is better for the owner of 2010~ 2011 Saab 9-5 owners to prepare a $100 USD battery charger to charge your baby once per week. Then U will save money for U to get a new battery (in the area of $200) for every year. Ifg U maintain Ur battery well, the New 9-5 will
give of a better life of less trouble, such as fuel consumption, transmission, ..., etc.
