What does CSE stand for?

[FONT=verdana]But she asked an interesting question today, what does the CSE stand for?[/FONT]

[FONT=verdana]I went to the internet only to find people guessing on what it stood for, is there any official word on what it stands for? Or did I not Google enough?

I previously owned a 9-3 and knew what SE stood for, these 9000's have some crazy letters after the # [/FONT]

or, which sounds more plausible:

Combi Sedan Executive (Combi would be what Saab likes to call their hatch backs, starting with the 99, Sedan because it has four doors, and Executive because it was a large luxury car).

That's the best I could come up with.

I always thought the explanation of Linear, Arc and Vector was interesting but can't find the source for it anymore.

Vector is a mathmatical term. Linear and Arc are engineering terms?

I read Linear is the shortest distance between two points so the least amount of options. Arc is a longer distance so more options standard. Vector is an arrow and the fastest between two points and more powerful. Or something like that. I read it in a Saab press release but never found it again. Maybe I was drunk and think I read it..

Well terms aside - the "CS" body style came about it 1993. From there became the trim levels - "CS" "CSE" "AERO"
"CS" - Was Typically a "LPT" or Light Pressure car with nearly no options or boost gauge. USUALLY
"CSE" - Was typically the "FTP" or Full Pressure car with many options standard. However there are CSE cars out ther with no spoiler and no turbo.
"Aero" - Was the flagship. They were all FPT cars - but the manual cars got the larger TD04HL-15T turbo which we later see on 9-3 SE, Viggen and 9-5 Aero's and 2.3T cars.

Saab did strange stuff over the years - some cars were ordered with very strange options or lack of. Most cases the letters tell you what to expect - but not always.

My personal "CS" was a Fully Loaded LPT car. Power Leather Seats, Glass Sun Roof, Digital Trip Computer. The original owner opted to have a dealer installed 6 disc changer in the trunk too. It had no trunk spoiler originally either. It now sports a hatch from a CSE so it has one and looks like a CSE - but sports the Aero turbo from a manual car amongst all the other upgrades I threw at it.

Well thanks for all the info in terms of what they had. My CSE definitely has all the features you could get.

I like Combi Sedan Executive probably the best in terms of it making sense.

Saab has really had some odd naming schemes over time...
