Dual Mass Flywheel
I have a 2006 Saab 93 tdi with 60k on the clock. For the last few months my clutch pedal feels rough when i press it. Now there is a very noticeable knocking noise when its in neutral. My Saab mechanic now tells me that the DMF needs replacing. I know this can be a problem with modern diesels but surly not at this mileage.
Saab has refused to install a new unit, because they say its a wear and tear issue.
I don't see any other threads covering DMF, so maybe its only a problem with UK / Irish cars?

It's a very common problem on diesel Saabs. If we are talking about 60k km is a little bit early, if you were referring to 60k miles then it's almost normal, sadly. I've seen cars with both more or less miles on the clock that had this issue, it depends largely on how the car is driven. For example, you should always start your car with the clutch depressed, rough downshifts are a big no no, etc
