Hello,
The software version on my SAAB 9-5 NG is E40B.
This new E800 software update will work?
Regards,
Dragos

Worked for me.
Lots and lots of patience required though.
Make sure you have the right files.
You should NOT USE ANY of the files for the american market, only the two with the E800 in it.
(Do NOT tinker with the third file which is in the setup for the American market, it seems as it is that one who corrupt the audio when you load it in a european car...)
i had to make a full fat32 format of the memory to make it work.
Then it was just to put the memorystick in the usb and confirm the upload, which started automatically when i inserted the stick, with the car running "in normal mode". I recommend that you start the engine and go for a (one hour) drive whilst doing this to ensure power to the system at all times, you must NOT turn the ignition off during this time.
At first, it will take some time to transfer the files from the memorystick and into the car.
This took for me approximately ten minutes.
It was automatically aborted for me at first as if the files were corrupted, thats why i had to make a full fat32 formation of the memorystick, reload the files and try again.
When the files finally were transfered, the actual update started, with nothing other than a white frame on the display.
(This is the status marker of the upload and will be filled up as the software updates.)
That took nearly one hour!
DO NOT ABORT IN THIS STAGE!
This is when the actual software is updated, and abortion of the progress will damage the software and immobilize the system.
There will only be a white frame for a long time before the first statusmarker will show up, here is where the patience is nessessary, otherwise you will mess up the upgrade, and it is not possible to restore otherwise than leaving the car to an authorized SAAB workshop. (Same if you upgrade the wrong audio file for the US market.)
Now it is working for me.
The only thing i have noticed now is that when i am playing music from the HDD and have selected "random" music, sometimes the random selection, and the memory where the music stopped is gone, and the system restarts with the first (alfabetically) song listed on the HDD.
Good Luck!

E800 is the one you want, this is the European update (E803 is for USA and will cause you problems)

Hello Dragos
Yes the E800 SW update worked for me.
It took about 25-30 minutes.

Hello mate, I have had no problems since doing the update. I think I just followed the instructions from an earlier post, but it has been a while. If I remember right it took a couple of tries before I achieved the final result.

Has this problem been fixed in the E800 version?
