What size bulb for cigarette lighter?
does anyone know what model or size bulb to use in the cigarette lighter? I change the seat heater (Neo wedge T3) acc (T5) dash (Sylvania 2721/LED 74) locks, basically every light except for behind the lighter before I take it apart I want to make sure I have a bulb, I realize it's encased in green plastic and r a bit hard to get out...if I have to I can Order the assembly on saabsite, but I really don't want to. Thx

The lighter is illuminated by a Sylvania 2721 lamp. There is a closely fitting light guide that surrounds the lamp so I doubt you will be able to substitute it with a LED replacement. I replaced this lamp in my '00 9-5. Tricky, but do-able without buying the entire assembly.

I found a source of 6mm wide LED T5s that could be modified to fit. I cut out one side of the plastic base and turned the tiny PCB sideways to aim at the negative terminal. The supplier is not consistant with the build as I've found two construction methods in my samples (parallel or series LEDs). The result does not dim well since filaments shut down between 10% and 20% RMS regardless of the waveform, but LEDs thrive on pulses. (SAAB uses pulse width modulation for dimming.)
I am working on properly dimming LEDs for this car.Last edited by avid0g; 21 September 2016 at 03:46.
