I replaced my battery now RADIO CODE has appeared.

Ahhh.... Just what I need.
Why would this happen just because I changed battery's? The old one died this week. So I replaced it.
Is there any any way to fix this without the dealer?
I've read that because it says radio code the radio is now divorced from the system... Is this correct? Is there a hidden code on the radio somewhere?

On my NG900 this happens as well, but o newer models like 9-3 or 9-5 it shouldn't. Still, you ca check the owners manual or you can take the thing out and check if the code isn't written on it somewhere

You can fix it by unplugging the large wire loom on the OnStar box. Disconnect the battery, unplug or cut the wire loom from the box and that should fix it.

Hey guys it didn't work.
I un-did the battery for about 25 min. The Radio Code is still there...
Should I have had the on-star plugged in before I disconnected the battery? It was unplugged form the other day.

It should take a number of starting cycles. You could try yanking it out and unplugging it and then putting it back.

I took the radio out. (Checked the fuse and it's fine.)
Then I disconnected the Negative lead on the battery.
Now I'm making a coffee. (And writing this.) Once the coffee is done I'll go back out and reattach the Neg to the battery and put the radio back in.

I'm back. The SID still says Radio Code so I will wait a few days and see if it goes away.
Did I do this in the right order?
I removed the radio with the car off, disconnected the battery, made coffee (15 min), reattached the negative battery cable and inserted the radio. Ignition was in the off position all the time.

Last step I can think of is to turn on the ignition and the radio and leave them both on for 1 hour. Otherwise your going to have to get it divorced and remarried with a tech II

Can I take it for a hour long drive? Because if I let it sit in the on position the battery will die...
