In my 04 93, when we try to change the information displayed on the SID, we have to fight to get the thing to stop on the correct setting. It doesn't matter if I turn the knob clockwise or counter clockwise. The value displayed seems totally random.
Now that I am learning a little more about this car, is this a fiber optic issue. and if yes, where to start to clear up?
Regards,
David

My experience has been that the dial knob that you use to scroll through/adjust settings gets all gummed up. Easiest just to replace it/the control panel.

That's a common issue with an easy fix. Check out this thread: http://saabworld.net/f8/saab-informa...problem-25018/

It is the rotary encoder that is causing the issue. Some have had moderate success spraying a small (very small) amount of electrical contact cleaner with the knob removed into the encoder and rotating the shaft back and forth. It is a fairly common issue. I have done it and it worked for about 6 months but is now intermittent again. I may pull the whole unit out of the dash at some point and try and do a better job. Use something like this DeoxIT #D5S-6 Spray Contact Cleaner and Rejuvenator : Cleaners & wipes | RadioShack.com

Ya - just pull that knob off and spray some lube or electric cleaner in the 4 little holes as liberally as you can. Then reinstall the knob and you'll be as good as new.
