Sorry, forgot to ask. Do you keep the ignition on or does it just keep going until the end of the install?

Well, it takes about 85 minutes. I drove while it updated, stopped the car, restarted the car, etc. When you turn off the car, and turn it back on, it remembers where it left off.
I don't think you can leave the auxillary power on for 85 minutes without it shutting off ... plus you have to change DVDs once.
When I update my other vehicle (with a different disk, because it is tied to the VIN), I will again drive around while it updates.

Buying Map from Navteq
Does this mean that I can purchase a navigation disc from
navteq.com
where I chose Opel Ampera, 2013 model, and then I can download a new Europe map for 249 euro?
Will I then keep the Saab logo, or do I get an Opel logo?

I cannot confirm the Europe map piece, but that makes sense as that is what we in the US did ... choose the Cadillac/Buick disc, and it worked. So knowing that, I would guess the Opel one could work for you.
The update will not affect the SAAB logo. You are safe there.

Has somebody tried to download maps other than the one for Ampera 2011? Would fancy to have the map for Eastern Europe as well, but Ampera map is only Western Europe.

Sorry but I cannot help for Eastern Europe. Only used the Ampera disks which suit me fine in UK.

Have looked at my version - E40B V20.12.02
Language would be set on the system (car set-up) and only select the map (national map).
Have not been able to 'test' in Italian but I can set the car to Italian display. Perhaps this controls the language of the SatNav??
Hope this helps and not confusing you even more.
